Mood Shifting to HOPEFUL ANTICIPATION

My mood shifted from hopeless anxiety and hopping anger to hopeful anticipation over the past few days.

It has been a very long four years (especially the last eight months in isolation due to COVID) but I’m sensing a massive mood shift as the November election approaches…

People are swarming to the polls in record numbers, voting early, making phone calls and writing post cards to encourage DEM voters who seldom vote to vote this year.

Here in Washington State, it’s estimated that 90% of voters will vote this year. That’s  unprecedented. (But seriously, if no one is highly motivated to vote this year, they simply aren’t paying attention!)

Me shaking hands with Joe Biden, 2011

On Facebook, I’ve seen scores of DEM, IND and GOP people proclaiming “I Voted for Biden-Harris!” and the polls suggest this could become a landslide victory for the DEMS this year.

So, it seems that 2020 will end up not being the total loser we’ve sometimes thought it to be. In my own life, I got my home remodeled, my chest masculinized, and I’ll have the extra skin and flab taken off my abdomen this year.

Add to these highlights the apparently imminent removal of Trump, Pence and all of their racist, sexist, misogynistic, anti-LGBTQI, xenophobic minions, and it makes perfect sense that our moods are shifting to higher, happier places!

I don’t think many of us could have taken four more years of the dysfunction and reversal of the measurable progress we’ve made in so many areas.

I know I would have moved out of the country sooner rather than later if the mood hadn’t begun to shift upward in recent days and weeks.

We’re still not out of the woods, and won’t be for quite some time, but with leaders at the helm who actually give a damn about other people, we will emerge far faster than we otherwise would. And best of all, we’ll be encouraged to work together where we share common interests, instead of bad-mouthing each other and designating people as enemies instead of fellow citizens and family members. Hallelujah!

That will be soooo refreshing!

At long last, we’ll be able to de-stress from the distress and press onward to a brighter tomorrow together.

It can’t happen soon enough for me.

How about you? Does a change in administration cheer you, or make you fearful? If it makes you fearful, let me know in what ways and I’ll do my best to help you realize that F.E.A.R. is usually False Evidence Appearing Real. (Fox Noise exists to promote fear and division, as do Breitbart, Newsmax, Q-Anon, and too many other far-right lunatic-fringe entities. Consulting  less toxic sources would be a very good place to start.)
