Office Detail

Yesterday on my way back from seeing the new Meryl Streep movie (the fellow who played the concert pianist was every bit as brilliant as Meryl: I anticipate a Best Supporting Actor nomination for him) I spotted a tall green, old-fashioned four drawer filing cabinet on my street. The sign read FREE so I manhandled it into my SUV and brought it home.

After I dragged it inside (no small task) and took a short nap, I got inspired to dive into my two shorter, two-drawer filing cabinets and go through them and a box of “to be filed or tossed” stuff that has been begging to be addressed for a couple of months. So I did that. It took hours, but the result is stunning.

I now have a barrel full of discarded, unnecessary stuff to recycle. Everything that was retained is in a designated file in the new (to me) filing cabinet, which freed up the two shorter ones to be storage units for other important things. My office looks pristine again and I know there isn’t a single piece of paper in it that doesn’t need to be here. It’s a terrific feeling!

I also de-cluttered my cute display board and put up the photos I most want there. All in all, a good night’s work!
