Greg Barton is a Tease…(with UPDATE & Signed Photo)

Greg Barton

This morning I woke up to find this “teasing treasure” from Greg Barton waiting for me on Facebook:

“So first Comic-Con. After going to the wrong entertainment centre, getting lost and parking a fair distance from it, made it and had the day made. Met Karl Urban, wowed him with my guitar. (Mark Emerson, you’ve got a new order) Brought him to near tears (Kristine M Smith, you’ll get to know the story) and had him in tears laughing at the panel discussion/Q&A. Even had a thing going where who could make the other guy laugh the hardest. Got him to do his famous “I am the law” growl. At the end, we got a standing ovation.”

So here I sit, waiting for “the rest of the story”. I think I know what it is, but I want to hear chapter and verse, nuance and anon. I want every last millisecond, no matter how picayune…

I want photos of Greg and Karl!  I want… I want… I want…

And he’s fast asleep in Australia right now, blissfully unaware that I’m dyin’ over here in The States!

GREG BARTON, YOU ARE ROTTEN AND PRECIOUS AND YOU REALLY DO KNOW HOW TO GET SOMEONE’S ATTENTION. TALK ABOUT A CLIFFHANGER!!!

UPDATE!

OK, here’s the rest of the story, in Greg’s own words:

“After arriving at the Comic-Con with a few minutes to spare, I lined up to get my photo taken with Karl, where I met a few Star Trek and Dredd fans who spotted my Fender Stratocaster guitar with custom Dredd artwork.

“When it was my turn to meet Karl, he spotted my guitar and proclaimed: “Such an awesome guitar, I love it!” I offered to let him hold it; he immediately jumped at the chance. Got the photo taken, shook my hand in thanks, and told me he wanted to autograph the guitar.

“After meeting up with the Queensland Trekkers group and the Star Wars 501st legion, I lined up with some new friends who were cosplaying as Star Trek Original Series, Voyager and the new movies/Kelvin timeline, Lord of the Rings and Judges from the movie Dredd) to get an autograph.

“While waiting in line, Karl walked past me, did the rock/horn/hand gesture and said: ‘Mate, I love that guitar of yours.’

“When I got to the autograph booth, I checked in my guitar which now had a post it note on it reading “Kris”. When Karl spotted the note, he asked, “Who’s Kris?”  I explained that you were very close to DeForest Kelley, like part of his family. ‘His daughter?’ he asked. I nodded to acknowledge ‘something like that’ and then told him “On behalf of Kris and the Kelley family, thank you for your portrayal of Dr. Leonard McCoy and keeping the spirit of not only Star Trek and Dr. McCoy alive but DeForest Kelley’s as well. He would be very proud of you!”

He sat there for a moment looking at his head shot and me and with tears in his eyes, he softly said, “Thank you.” Then he autographed the photo  ‘To Kris, love your Dad!! Love you! Karl Urban’

“After he thanked me, he asked me where you live and I said “Tacoma, Washington”.  He said that if and when he gets time off, he’ll try and get to you.”

OK…MY DAY IS SERIOUSLY MADE. NO, MY MONTH IS SERIOUSLY MADE! NO, MY YEAR IS SERIOUSLY MADE!

Thank you, Greg and Karl!
