Transmasculine Top Surgery Saga Update Part Three

It just never ends. Now I’m in contact with three other possible surgeons in Seattle who do transmasculine top surgeries but …

 

One of the surgeons apparently doesn’t take any kind of insurance. His surgeries are the least expensive (just $7500 as opposed to $15K) and he has the most experience doing them. He works at a cosmetic surgery firm.

 

Another one I was referred to by WPATH (World Professional Association  for Transgender Health) isn’t yet finished with his schooling and won’t have his own private practice until 2022… and he’s in Arizona right now. But he did respond to my emails to say he has worked with the first surgeon I contacted (and whose waiting list I’m on, Dr. Goldsberry-Long) and he considers her “a great physician,” so that makes me feel better!

 

But he also gave me the name of someone else in Seattle who does the surgery and says my primary care physician (PCP) should refer me to him so he can get me in for a consultation if I do decide to go another route, so I have an email in to her to get that  done.

 

It just never seems to end.

 

But I’m not giving up until it’s a done deal. This isn’t a whim. It’s a decades long goal. I WILL get these freaking gender mis-identifiers lopped off if it kills me!  I refuse to quit or to surrender to another year of feeling lousy about my gender presentation. I’ve done everything else I can do to signal to people that I’m not female, but until these appendages are gone for good, I will always be viewed as female, and that stinks, because it is not who I am!
