Our Ill-Fated Fuhrer: from HOAX to National Emergency

Well, if this corona virus pandemic doesn’t seal the lid on the coffin of Don the Con, I don’t know what will.

 

But, silly me…

 

I thought the audio tape about “pussy-grabbing” and the video mocking a disabled reporter would end his candidacy when he ran for the job.

 

I thought the proof of his inability to tell the truth would disqualify him from serious contention.

 

 

I thought proof of Russian meddling in the last election in his favor would end his reign.

 

I thought being impeached for asking a foreign country to investigate a political rival would send him packing.

 

No other leader in our nation’s history could get away with the list of atrocities this one has in this day and age, but his GOP enablers just keep enabling him. Because as long as our outrage is on him, they can hobble and handicap our hopes and dreams and goals even more.

 

They’re complicit comrades in his unmitigated advance toward totalitarian control because he’s their puppet. As long as they keep praising him to his face, they can get away with all kinds of treasonous and scandalous policies: stealing elections, gerrymandering districts, loading the courts with far-right fundamentalists who want a theocratic oligarchy, refusing to count LGBTQI individuals during the 2020 census, refusing to treat people of color with the deference they pay to white, rich men and women like them.  The list goes on…and on…and on…

 

I don’t know what it going to end Donald Trump. Maybe the corona virus will. Maybe the vote on November 3rd will.

 

All I know is that I can’t wait much longer for this sordid chapter to end. With every day that passes, I get more and more bitter and angry and fed up, not just with him and his minions but with his clueless cult.

 

My sister is reading a book called EXONERATED. She has no idea that in order to be exonerated, one has to have first had a trial and called witnesses, which is what the GOP refused to do.

 

So he has not been exonerated: he has been impeached and will remain impeached forever, mute testimony to the craven greed and ignominy of a party that used to be heralded as the party of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt.

 

Two weeks ago, he called COVID-19 a hoax and told people not to worry or change anything.

 

Today he’s calling the pandemic a national emergency.

 

He was told about this threat two months ago before a single case was confirmed here. He chose to ignore it and play golf instead.

 

He gutted the agencies responsible for responding to pandemics and now is blaming Obama for the crisis. (Of course. Always Obama. He’s always comparing himself to Obama and thinking he comes out the winner. What he comes out as is a whiner, a toddler, a desperate shadow of a man who will not take responsibility for anything other than tearing others down.)

 

I don’t know what will end him, but it’s time. It’s past time.

 

It’s pretty bad when someone like me hopes the “hoax” corona virus will take him and all his Capitol Hill champions down.

 

I hate  feeling this ugly toward other human beings; it is so against my nature. But I have to call it as I see it. These are dangerous men (mostly men) and these are dangerous times. We need to get a handle on it before it gets beyond our ability to stop it…

 

My fear is that it may be too late already, but I’ll go down fighting, if that’s the case. NOT ON MY WATCH WILL AMERICA’S HIGHEST IDEALS GET TRAMPLED AND THE NATION SOLD TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER.
